Laney College is now enrolling for the winter Intersession and spring semesters.
Winter Intersession begins Dec. 15, 2014 runs through Jan. 13, offering a limited schedule of classes and allowing students to earn 3 units in 4.5 weeks. The self-paced courses are conducted online, which provides opportunity for anyone who has been considering taking classes to take the first step.
The spring semester begins Jan. 20 with a full schedule. Laney offers a wide range of courses from academic to vocational, and many of the courses are acceptable for lower division transfer credit to BA/BS programs at CSU and UC Systems.
Laney is also encouraging high school students to consider concurrent enrollment – meaning they can take college-level courses while still in high school. Concurrent enrollment can help seniors make up classes needed for graduating on time or accelerate a students’ path to college, earning extra credit and preparing them for the next stage of their educational career.
Some of the most popular classes at Laney are the Career Technical Education programs, which prepare students for exciting high-wage careers
“We want our community’s youth and adults to have ample opportunity to access college and to excel in rewarding careers. Workers need to be able to move up the career ladder without insufficient education hindering their progress,” says Laney College President Elñora T. Webb.
Laney has set a target of attracting 4,000 new students, in addition to returning students, concurrently enrolled high school students and adult students upgrading their skills or switching careers.
