Rev. Gregory D. Hunter and Olivet Institutional Missionary Baptist Church (OIMBC) Oakland will host a tribute to Bishop Gordon Humphrey on Sunday, January 18 at Love Center Ministries, 10440 International Blvd. in Oakland.
Humphrey suddenly passed away on December 14 while preaching a sermon at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago. He was 60 years old.
He served as the pastor and leader of the Olivet Institutional Missionary Baptist Church at 32nd Market Street, and 807 27th Street for over 30 years. He also founded OIMBC Stockton where Pastor Jimmy Cox now leads the congregation.
After the death of his father, Bishop Humphrey returned to Chicago where he assumed the position of senior pastor of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
Last August, Humphrey installed Rev. Gregory Hunter as his successor at OIMBC Oakland.
“We’re trying to honor Bishop Humphrey with a “Sunday Night Live” tribute like he used to host on Market street,” said Hunter. “Good preaching, good singing, and a move of God.”
The concert will begin promptly at 7 p.m.
