The Fair Housing of Marin will be sponsoring a housing conference, “Housing Opportunity: Past, Present, and Future” at the Marin Center Showcase Theater, Monday April 4, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.


Check-in starts at 9:00 a.m. The Marin Center Showcase Theater is located at 10 Avenue of the Flags, San Rafael. Pre-registration is required to attend.


The conference will be an opportunity for advocates, housing providers, municipal leaders and the business community to come together in strategic sessions to address barriers to housing choice.


Speakers include national housing experts who will lead participants in discussions of how to broaden housing opportunities in local communities in light of systemic segregation, and HUD’s new rule on Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing.


Richard Rothstein, professor, writer and national speaker on racial justice and segregation, will be the Keynote Speaker.


Panelists include Sara Pratt, Counsel at Relman, Dane & Colfax, PLLC; Debby Goldberg of the National Fair Housing Alliance and Sarita Turner, associate director of PolicyLink.


The conference is supported in part by a grant from the California State Bar and is cosponsored by the County of Marin, Marin Community Foundation, Marin Association of Realtors, Marin Economic Forum, Community Action Marin, and the Marin Asian Advocacy Project.


Partners to the conference include Latino Council, Legal Aid of Marin, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Marin, Marin Center for Independent Living, Marin City Community Services District, Marin County Office of Education, and the Novato Chamber of Commerce.
