Author, speaker and advocate Sheryl Grant hosted a women’s empowerment panel on March 15 at Geoffrey’s in Oakland.

The event featured career women: Lori Allen, senior director of Resources at LinkedIn; Life CoachTracy Webb; Robert Half International Staffing Manager LaChelle Eddison; and Case Manager KaSelah Crocket.

The panelists wore black in solidarity with the #TimeIsUp Movement. Grant briefly shared her own experience and encouraged other women to stay strong.

“Together we stand, or together we fall,” said Grant who considers community to be “everything.”

“You’re only as good as the people you’re surrounded by, and we can move mountains, through sisterhood,” she said.

Grant, who is in her mid-fifties, invited a dozen young women of the My Sister’s Keeper empowerment group.

Throughout the discussion, panelists armed the audience with anecdotes for corporate and entrepreneurial success.

Life coach, Tracy Webb told participants to slow down, assess and strategize.
