Mercy High School hosted its annual La Merced Gala, on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco.
Celebrating 65 years, more than 300 alumnae, and community members gathered for the event, raising essential funds for financial assistance to young women at Mercy. The school currently provides 63% of students with financial aid.
Mercy Class of ’86 graduates, Monique Togonon Macareg, Deborah Heffernan Hinds, Tracy Pappas and Lillian Tsai along with table sponsors of Salesforce discussed the importance of raising funds to ensure girls have access to the great education they received as students at Mercy. “The cost of living is very expensive and I want more women to have the option of a Catholic school education,” said Macareg. “Mercy provided an environment where I felt supported,” Lillian Tsai with Tracy Pappas. “We made great friendships and got a great education at Mercy,” said Hinds. “We recently lost a classmate last fall and in her honor, I wanted be more supportive of my alma mater,” said Macareg. “Life is short and in this lifetime I want to contribute along with my classmates,” she said.
Salesforce representatives also attended the gala; Charlie Isaacs, CTO for Customer Connection and John Taschek, Senior Vice President, Strategy. The duo pledged to continue their support of Mercy. “We are happy to lend our support to an institution that supports a great education for women,” said Isaacs.
Head of School, Scott McLarty says that Mercy has a fresh new administration ready to embrace change while preparing young women to become global change agents. “At Mercy we strive to ensure young women are prepared for the world of opportunities in store for them” he said.
