Youth from all over the Bay Area competed in the Tommie Smith Youth Track Meet at UC Berkeley and honored athlete and legend Tommie Smith. This year marks the 50th anniversary since  Olympic sprinters Tommie Smith and John Carlos stood atop the medal podium at the 1968 Summer Games in Mexico City, bowed their heads and raised black-gloved fists during the playing of the national anthem. Pictured  above are Tommie Smith & wife Delois, who happens to be the mother of R & B singer Montel Jordan.
