Part 3 of our Series features Rev. Dr. Jacqueline Thompson, who has served as, the Assistant Pastor of Allen Temple Baptist Church since 2010.
Dr. Thompson is the penultimate leader in ministry – well-educated, experienced locally and globally, and truly a leader for today as social, political, and economic needs also must be met theologically.
Educated at UC Berkeley, Howard University’s School of Divinity, and Fuller Theological Seminary, she is prepared for the full spectrum of ministry in our modern world.
Called and licensed to preach in 1995, she was ordained in 1998, by The Reverend Dr. J. Alfred Smith, Sr., Pastor Emeritus of Allen Temple.
Serving at Shiloh Baptist Church in Wash., D.C., Dr. Thompson then became Executive Director of their Family Life Center Foundation, where she raised over $5 million to support their programs. The first woman to preach in many prominent pulpits across denominational lines, she has also preached to civic and political organizations.
As a gifted administrator and leader, Dr. Thompson is first and foremost a preacher and teacher of God’s Word.
Her message after the synagogue terrorism in Pittsburg, PA: “Let’s Be Clear: The unrestrained racist, sexist, xenophobic rhetoric…of the White House is radicalizing white extremists. And as Dr. King said to us, ‘…history will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition…(is) the appalling SILENCE of the good people.’
“And yes…this goes for good church folk too!”
